• Only A Fly

The poem ‘only a fly’ was written in the 21st century by a woman who felt trapped.  In my Renaissance world, there are a lot of women who felt exactly the same way.  Tell me about your life and how you feel about the world you live in.

    Only A Fly

Is a woman but a fly

    Put on earth by

    Man’s hand to die

    What Laws so weak

    Does a society so strong

    Allow to watch over the

    Vessel of Life

    The least protected

Species we have – the wife

    In our fast forward

    Peopleless world of

    Communication by finger

    Pressing alone

Where have our laws of mercy

    Flown?

    When young and old

    Of feminine gender

    Have less protection

    Than your car’s

    Fender

    Arise all women

    Weak and strong

    Until our swell

    Of indignation

    Overtakes the entire nation

    Beware batterers brutal!

Where has all the gentle caring gone

    Along the electric highway

    Its sign post light alas

Is out for none to see
