Award winning filmmaker Bonnie Palef, successfully developed and produced many Oscar nominated and financially successful films; as head of production for Norman Jewison’s company, and as a producer with her own overhead studio deals. (Some credits include: Marvin’s Room, Cemetery Club, Moonstruck, A Soldier’s Story, Agnes of God, Disguise, Parents, Best Friends, Dogs of War, Iceman, January Man, Dance Me Outside, Sesame Street, Mobile Films for Intel, and she has been honored with many awards including the Innovative Film-Makers Award from Women in Film). Norman Jewison, director of Moonstruck, continues to be supportive of Bonnie Palef’s directing and writing accomplishments. Martin Scorsese, is a mentor and, or producer on several of Bonnie Palef’s directing projects, including, “Something To Believe In”, a documentary with the Dalai Lama, “Walking the Dog”, with Joaquin Phoenix, and most recently Mr. Scorsese advised her on the initial screenplay development of “Betraying the Lion.” Katherine Hepburn loved the script of “Walking the Dog,” and had wanted to play the female lead. “Walking the Dog” was also invited to the Venice Film Festival and won many international honours.
